Harry Tasker appears as a benign, play-it-safe, seemingly risk-averse computer salesman and devoted family man, married with two kids. But in reality, Harry is an undercover operative, a first-class spy working for a covert U.S. Intelligence organization.
Biography[]
Harry was recruited to Omega Sector in 1998 and quickly became one of their top agents. He was assigned to a team comprised of fellow field agents Luther Tenet, Maria Ruiz, and analyst Albert Gibson Jr. They crossed paths with a cryptographer named Ximena Díaz, whom Harry had a flirtatious relationship with. Before they went beyond a single kiss, Harry met Helen and fell in love with her. They were soon married and moved to Maryland, had two kids Dana and Jake, and Harry's new cover identity became that of a suburban computer salesman working with the third largest computer sales company in the world, Telonyx Solutions.
In 2019, the team was sent to Zurich alongside MI6 liaison Ian Young to trap The Engineer in Operation: Mousetrap. The mission failed when the Engineer outsmarted the team, saw through Ian's cover, and killed him. Operation: Mousetrap changed things for the team, as it was considered the biggest failure of their careers.
Throughout Series[]
Season 1[]
During Operation Gatecrash, Harry called his wife Helen and apologized for the fact that he'd be late, maintaining his cover of being at a sales conference in Cleveland. After the call, Harry, working with Luther Tenet, Maria Ruiz, and Albert Gibson Jr., had to react quickly after an alarm was set off by noise. The team evaded enemy assailants and completed their mission. He was reinserted into his family life and perfectly executed cover stories for his absences, gifts he picked up for his family, and a reason for the bruise on his arm. Unbeknownst to Harry, Helen disliked the travel guide because it was a list of places they would never see, Dana had outgrown her snow globes, and Jake didn't care for the hat he was given.
During a barbeque for Helen's work colleague, she expressed frustration with their marriage and her belief that he was having an affair. Cornered, Harry lied that he and Gib planned to surprise her by bringing her with them to their next conference in France. While Helen was overjoyed and the lie saved his marriage for the time being, it put his team in a precarious situation as they were forced to front as their cover identities. Gib, although annoyed with Harry and disapproving of bringing his wife on a mission, helped Harry organize a spa day to keep Helen.
Meanwhile, Harry, Maria, and Luther went undercover to intercept a courier and retrieve a weapon capable of making technology, metals, and defenses crumble in seconds. They successfully apprehended the weapon during an elevator fight, then returned in time to take Helen on a romantic dinner. She tried to open up about their lackluster marriage, but he identified an enemy assailant across the room and told her they had to leave. Frustrated over his dismissal, she began to rant until he activated his distress watch and sprang into action to disarm their attacker. Helen helped Harry take down one of the attackers using her martial arts classes. While they escaped into the street and got into a gunfight, they were surrounded and taken hostage.
The concierge at the hotel was secretly working for the enemy group and they had followed him throughout the day. Helen and Harry bickered over how best to handle being kidnapped, as he was a salesman who could get out of situations while she believed he had poor communication skills. The concierge threatened to hurt Helen if Harry didn't talk about Omega Sector, and Harry admitted to being a spy but lied that Helen was his handler. She went along with this rouse until the men left. He then confessed that he was a spy for Omega Sector and not a salesman. She's left to question if their marriage was a lie, if their kids were safe, and even the little things like him being unable to eat foreign foods. Harry insisted their kids were fine as Mrs. Meyers from next door was an agent of Omega Sector tasked with watching over the kids. He apologized for lying and vowed to make it up to her once they were free.
Harry and Helen worked together to escape their captors, combining his Omega training and her skills from yoga class. They steal a helicopter and manage to escape the enemy space relatively unscathed. When they return to Maryland, Helen is debriefed at Omega's headquarters, and Director Susan Trilby offered her a trainee position at the organization. Everyone that knew about the company had to join them for their protection. They secured her a tenured position at a university that offered flexibility in scheduling. While Helen didn't want to join the organization and lie to her kids, she came to understand why she had to. The couple was reinserted into their lives, and Harry explained that Jake and Dana couldn't know for their safety. Together, they greeted their kids and prepared for their future as spies.[4]
